The Select button for NES is the Run button. The Select button for SNES is the lower Block button. The upper one is R1.

  18. January 10, 2009 03:34 pm

How do you set it up to save your progress when you quit a game?

  20. January 10, 2009 05:59 pm
    YourMameMan

Actually, Mame saves your data, not the front end. It should do it automatically.

i was going for the whole project…im thinking of building my own but idk what the price range will be.i just really want a dedicated umk3 arcade that i can convert to mame but still have the original setup.

Well, I spent a little over $2000 building it. But that was mostly because I bought a LOT of extra stuff that I didn’t need, but thought I did. I had to spend an extra $500 because the first monitor I bought got the tube crushed during shipment and I didn’t have any insurance on it. I spent a lot turning it into MK3 and then tearing all that off and making it into a ‘dedicated’ Mame cab. If I could build another one now, I could accomplish what I did with this one, a LOT cheaper.

Looks great. This would occupy my nephew for hours when he comes over if I can cram all the stuff for a mame cab into my current MKII cab. Was wondering (off the topic here) if you ever did a timed run through any of the MK’s? I figured you had, but you have so many vids up now, I didn’t wanna look through all them since the descriptions for the vids usually start with “MK 1, etc…” and then the descriptive part gets truncated until you mouse-over it. My Verizon is also iffy at times.

I can beat MK3 and UMK3 (Novice Tower) with pretty much any character in about 9 minutes. MK1, MK2 and UMK3 (other towers) vary depending on which character I choose because I am weak with some more than others.

Cool. I have tried my MK1 JAMMA a few weeks back and got a time of a little more than 12 minutes on the hardest difficulty setting with Kano. Darned Shang Tsung can come in incredibly easy or incredibly hard depending on the planet alignment I guess, lol! And Liu Kang has his moods, too. Goro is a joke, though, most of the time. I just intentionally missed the “Test Your Might” scenarios to shave seconds off my time. Need to best my time soon and try MKII, also.

i bought my 360 originally for the sole purpose of playing umk3, but after finally collecting evety console i grew up with i felt i wanted to build a collection of games such as sonic, pac man and lots of others, just like what you have done with your mame arcade, and since then i have been looking to you for inspiration so, good workumk3isgr8 aka retrogameparadise

i recommend getting an n64 emulator, then you can play mk trilogy,, the n64 version, and that has its own exclusive features, like super endurance for example

Which executable do you use when it loads up man? Mine does my head in cos it won’t load some of the games up, yet they’ll come on a treat using Turbo Mame.

Where are you getting the reliable ROMS from? and Which executable version are you loading them up through in Maximus?Cheers

Some of mine work ok on one exec. but not another. Highly annoying. Sometimes the controls on the x arcade don’t work on some games, but the buttons do.

you can download a mame with all the pictures already there so you dont have to do them one by one. Nice work though. I wanted Hyperspin but way too much work.
