Rampage is a 1986 arcade game by Bally Midway. Players take control of gigantic monsters trying to survive against onslaughts of military forces. Each round is completed when a particular city is completely reduced to rubble.
Up to three simultaneous players control the monsters George (a King Kong-like gorilla), Lizzy (a Godzilla-like dinosaur/lizard), or Ralph (a giant werewolf), created from mutated humans. They need to raze all buildings in a high-rise city to advance to the next, eating people and destroying helicopters, tanks, taxis, police cars, boats, and trolleys along the way.
Monsters can jump and climb buildings, and punch enemies and buildings. Buildings also take damage when jumped on by a monster.
The player receives damage from enemy bullets, grenades, shells and so forth, and from falls. Damage is recovered by eating appropriate food such as fruit, roast chicken, or soldiers. If a monster takes too much damage, it reverts back into a naked human and starts walking off the screen sideways, covering its genitals with its hands. While in this state, the player can be eaten by another player. If the player continues, the human mutates back into the monster, or flies in on a blimp if off-screen, with a full life bar.

I remember this was one of my favorite video games when I cas young, however I never did make it to the end. If there’s anyone who’s beaten it, can you tell me what the ending’s like?
It goes through 128 days, this cycle goes on 5 times, after that it starts over at day one; basically, it doesn’t end…
Great, thanks!
i remember when they had this game on shockwave and the midway classic arcade websites.. i cant find it anywhere now
lets rampage to all tv realty SHIT show set and dont take prisonersit was a good time during the 80’s at least whit the cold war everyone respected america
I had this for my commodore 64 never did beat it. It was fun for its time.
So awesome!! I “wasted” so many quarters on this game…. but oh how fun it was!
I like the werewolf. Pissed me off how they took him out of the nes version.
Where can you play this online?
There is a problem …I found the place where to play it but theres the problem…I cant play it
@petercharleskrug i have this for the ps2 on midway arcade treasures. i played this game for a whole day and i finally finished it. it was like 765 levels or something like that. When i finished it i thought there was going to be an ending but when i finished the last level it went all the way back to level 1. i wasted so much time!!!!
They should remake this with a WTC bonus level. You’d have just enough time to take out the two towers and then building 7 would fall on its own. Too soon?
I love this game! I got this in Midway Arcade Treasures for my XBOX and in Rampage Total Destruction for my PS2. I also got the Sega Master System version of Rampage. That one has Ralph, unlike the Nintendo Entertainment system version.
@TheClodfather That’s because Midway went bankrupt and Warner Bros. Games bought out Midway. I miss Midway so much! :’(
@jacksawild It’s never too soon for lulz.
I once went to Peoria, Illinois in real life. Unsurprisingly, it wasn’t nearly as entertaining as this game depicted it to be.
where i cant this play???
This is what Japan’s going to look like in a week or two with all the radiation floating about. I’m personally rooting for the Lizzie, however, any giant creature running amok in a highly populated metropolis is win in my book.
Maybe they should create a Tyranosaurus Rex named Sharptooth.
LOL I remember playing the Atari version of this game forever ago…brings back fond memories of wasting many days as a youth
@toeeki007 Your english is exaggeratedly bad. However you can download this game at romnation, com.
FIRST GAME I PLAYED
@starwarsROXmy Awesome game, especially for 2+ players. Rampage World Tour is cool too! I am looking for people to play this game with online, via MAME & Kaillera client. It’s a great 2 player co-op game.
@rushdi34 Those were the days…….Personally, I refuse to let them go (memories), haha! I am so thankful for emulation. It’s not quite the same as when I played them as a kid, but it’s still fun. It’s also very nostalgic/brings back fond memories.
@toeeki007 Huh? Are you asking where or how you can play this on your PC?
how to change the controls on this mame ??
A computer simulation of what will happen on April 21, 2011.
what home site u play that on?
This game is hot hot stuff!
those helicopters are a pain in the ass.
Lol it said Joliet? I was confused, thats where I live, lol
oh my god so classic and nostalgic
they should make this a movie, thumbs up if you agree
Man I use to love this game, played it to death. Just enjoyed being a monster taking down sky scrappers. They should remake this game in 3D. I’d like to walk through full cities blowing them up lol.
This game was so amazing back then D:
this was one of my fav arcade games
would it be awesome if they made a rampage game in 3D and your in a city the size of GTA4 and every building is destructible
@FutureScience2012 This would be similar to the PS2 game War of The Monsters in which you controlled giant monsters and beat each other up. The destructive element of the game was very fun. The later Rampage Ultimate Destruction was a bit disappointing. But I can imagine why it would be hard to make a game destroying building fun. It was good back in the day, they have to improve on the joy you get by destroying buildings.
I feel bad watching this so close to the 10th anniversary of 9-11.
Never forget.
@Nazuris still dont get it
why would anyone dislike this video?
@Scullnblades Yea, but the father of all these types of games, was “Crush Crumble & Stomp”/ Mid 80’s Commodore 64.
does anyone know where I can play this online or to download the game??
@poopskinTheLiar haha i always wanted to go there when i was little because of this game xD
isn’t that how detroit looks normally?
This is how future generations will remember 9/11.
Brings back memories.
i loved this game when i was young!
Now this the $^#! grab a beer on way up next wretched architecture mmm back when carrers seemed like real future out there somewhere so spend as much time and paper route money at showbiz pizza made PERFECT 9-yr old logic sense. No idea about paying to Peoria urban rearraingment simulators @ time…
