Is that what it actually looked like in 1983?? If so,… thats pretty amazing sprite scalig for that time!!!
yeah at the time, this game actually rivaled pole position
Definitely looks amazing for its age
awesome gonna find the romused to play this as a kid and complete it
What happens when you combine Pole Position with OutRun and add two extra screens? You’ll probably end up with this game. Very rare find! Much love for posting this!

I discovered this game at the seaside in 1983/4, and it was one of those OMG moments in life, when something just blows you away and you can always think back with extreme fondness.
To watch this brings the hairs up on the back of my neck!!!
I also liked pole position, but TX-1 literally blasted you away with its huge speakers, and you could actually feel the vibration in the wooden seat!! The 3 screens totally made this game, but made a cabinet as big as a bus!!
My fave race game of all time!!

Ill pay you 200bucks for a zip file with minimal files to get it to work on my pc. I dont have the time to learn emulation.

I got it to work.. MAME .132 is out now. Grab MAMEUI 0.132u5 and then search for TX1 rom and its clone TX1A. TX1A is the fully workable one. Good luck!
this was actually one of Tatsumi’s “big 3″ in the 80s. the other two games to have a panoramic cabinet was 1985’s Buggy Boy and 1988’s Super Round Up 5 (a Chase HQ-esque game but you get to drive a yellow Ferrari F40)
I used MAME 135b It works, kinda. The graphics are all messed up in the cars. They are all blocky, numbers & stuff showing up, making up the graphics of the cars. Can you offer any help, or a good MAME forum? The Forums I found have nothing about this particular game.BTW, TX1A does NOT work, only TX1.Any help would be greatly appreciated.
It looks a combination of Pole Position and Outrun to me. Interesting!
Hey, Help Please? I got MAMEUIFX32. Downloaded both TX-1 & A. It “works” but the cars are totally mussed up looking. Just odd, multi-colored blocks, & TX-1a don’t work at ALL. BTW This game is similar to (or similar hardware, programming) “Buggy Boy”. They have identical initial start up screens. Buggy Boy works fine.
I have finally figured out how to get this game to work! I noticed there are several different TX-1 & TX-1a files floating around out there. Some have 22 files & are 106k in size, while others have 42 files and are 112k in size & so on. You need the TX-1a ROM set that is 113kb & 36 files. It works perfectly! The TX-1 ROM set that is 106kb & 42 files, “works” but the graphix are all messed up. In the spirit of keeping Classic Gaming alive I am happy to help anybody with what I can. Email me.
@PatrioticLionLeo that was my first impresion to
funny noise!
@VERMISIMILITUDE That’s probably what Tatsumi is best known for in video game development. They did the same thing with a few other racing games like Buggy Boy (released in North America by Data East USA as “Speed Buggy”).
Stop downloading the latest MAME and mixing roms then. clearly it works on older versions than 135b…works for me too on a couple of revisions back. This game is awesome….makes pole position look like a ZX81 ha!
looks dificil
Not seen this machine for over 20 years was really easy to complete still a fun game though.
This game was WAY ahead of its time graphically.
I think in this game the calculated 3D view of the road doesn’t look as good as in Pole Position… here it seems that at times the street doesn’t move forward for a time (while in a curve), and then it suddenly changes to a slightly different view, revealing the next curve which wasn’t visible before.
It’s easy to find, and it was by chance (working copy):(1) Find a broken tx1a rom, and note the 1’st missing file’s name, when Mame crashes out to the command prompt.(2) Go to Google, and search for the first missing file’s name.(3) It leads you to a site with a working TX-1 (tx1a.zip) game, similar to this video (minus the monitor lines, and vertical distortion).
its Hars to beleive they had something this well made this even before Mario brothers 8 bit freakin game.
Looks quite impressive. Pure 60 FPS
410 kilometers per hour? Holy shit, that’s a lot faster than a Bugatti Veyron!
Holy crap!!! Those are the most awesome graphics for 1983!!! That is like PlayStation graphics you see there!!!
funny the racing sound is the same as TRON
man! seen this played on starcade! the one i’m trying to find with working sound is the game mazer blazer.
横3画面の大型筐体が斬新だった
POLE POSITION!!!!!!!!!! ripoff. lol
Needs a PlayStation Network release!
