This will show you how to install Mame onto your Wii. By using the Homebrew Channel.

so if I have a 4.0 softmod this isn’t going to work anyway? I’ve gone through this so many times, I know I have it right, but I get “unable to locate mamefs-fs” every single time upon loading, and I KNOW it’s in the root

Did he use the elf -> dol converter?
I believe the new HBC can’t use .elf anymore.
Try the file as it is. I’m using the same Mame on this video. MY HBC is at 1.3 and it still works.
Yep! You’re right, that means the .elf is compliant. For some, you have to convert.

how do i choose different characters in the simpsons and tmnt games?
THe controllers determine your characterI know the Simpsons. but not sure about the TMNT..Simpsons TMNT1 Homer Leo2 Marge Don 3 Bart Mike4 Lisa Raph
I tried dat for both games and all it does is give me the same character.
OK if you don’t put the controller in the correct spot. When you assign your buttons. Only set up the player you want to use. As in player 1,2,or 3. 4 doesn’t work on Wii Mame.

OMG I remember that wavebird controller!! it was the best controller ever (besides the dreamcast controller) until my cat puked on it and fucked it up… now i have crappy corded controllers… which sucks because they’re corded… Nice tut though!
great… just great. one problem- the top and bottom of the screen are cut off on most games. i can flip it sideways or play as ‘cocktail’ with two screens, but it’s not the same. anyone have a fix for this problem? cant see my high scores

hey iv done everything uv said and mame comes up on my wii and when all the computer gib comes up and loads i get a message saying unable to locate mamefs-fs and i have that file in the root dir please help??…….thanx
Something like that, most of the time is the brand or size of your SD Card.

The first Mame is way back in the early days of homebrew. The newier is adjusted to work on a 4.0 wii with Homebrew. The newer one is slower. If you can get the old one to work use it. It depends on your Wii setup. Not sure on that size. If your trying to get something like Street Fighter Alpha 2 or SF3 to work. Don’t even try. The Same for Killer Instinct.

lemme get this straight… so my set up is on the newer HBC using an American wii 4.1 firmware.. so is my MAME emulator running slower because of this? ur shit seems to run so much smoother than mine. plz help with anything to speed it up.
Ya try using the first file I uploaded. If it works for you. It will be faster than the new one for 4.0

i put all 4 things including the mamefs-fs file in the main root and it says unable to locate mamefs-fs retry in 10 seconds and nothing happens i used the mame version from your first link
Make sure Wii24connect is off. Also what kind of SD Card are you using.
Im using a sanDisk Ultra II its 15 mb per second and yeah i turned off the wii24connect im just gonna keep messing around with it to get mame to work. i was able to get the super nintendo and gameboy advance emulators to work on the wii.
oh yeah and its 4 gig one
I think it’s the size. Try a 2 gig. Mame was not made for a bigger size.

so I’m gonna guess this doesn’t work with the the 4.2 system? just goes straight to black for me.
Not sure I will try since I do have a Wii I updated to 4.2, but also has the HBC on it.
I just tried it and mine still works. My wii is on 4.2 and has the HBC on it. No custom Cios or anything else. I’m also using the first link for Wii mame.

Well I bought the first to Wiis. US and Japanese at launch. Before the Homebrew scene jumped off. Then later I bought another Wii just for Homebrew. I never update it. So I have everything covered with out the worry of updates.

Does a Wii Classic controller (with GC port) work for MAME roms on the Wii?
Sorry but this version only has GameCube/Wavebird support.
Im trying to put mame on my wii but the same problem always happens it says: some gibberish then: “sorry, I am unable to locate mamefs-fs” “will retry in 10 seconds” even though its in the root of my sd card, also wiiconnect24 is off AND I have tried both versons linked to your video. Can you give me any help?

You have to set up the controller. There is a coin button you can assign.
How? I pressed every button, every direction, and every combination. I got nothing.
i followed your video tutorial and it worked , i started to play moonwalker and for some reason it was really slow ( like lag) is it normal ?
The Mame is not perfect at all. Some games work well some don’t. I’m not sure about Moonwalker. It’s one of those try and see things.

Try the old one. I’m not sure want effects menu 4.2 has on the files. Mine still work, but I’m using the original files.

Ok when you get to the game title screen. Press start on your controller. A blue box should come up. Go to setup controller. Once there you preset all of your buttons. I Believe you hold down A and the when it goes blank. Press the button you want to assign to that spot. On either Player 1,2,3, or 4. You should see a insert coin option. Assign a button to that.

I’m going to say no. The file at the point is too big. So the game will never load. I have gotten Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo, and Street Fighter Alpha 1 to work. Nothing bigger then those. Now There is someone finally working on it. So check back.

well i already tried it and games load in3-5 second..games ive tested are all ur 3 games on ur sidebar work greatgames that didnt work are MvC the first one..havent tried 2nnd one

Well at the time if was necessary! This was my second Mame Video. I had this guy asking me to show him how I did it. He wanted me to prove it to him! Basically called me a liar. So I had to address that when I made this video.
