Solar Assault is a 3D shooter arcade videogame released by Konami in 1997, a sort of Gradius Nemesis in 3D running on the same hardware of GTI Club.
The game is almost playable on MAME 0.127u1 version with some graphics glitches, sound problem, and running at 50-60% of full speed ingame on my Intel Core 2 Quad Q6700 @ default clock 2,66 GHz.

It’s awesome to see the game can FINALLY run on MAME, and I hope they keep working on it so it can play in full speed. I’ve only played the game in Disney World and it’s one of my favorite arcade games and I wish I had the room for the deluxe cockpit cab.
How did you get past the “EEPROM parameter is illegal” error?
New screen shot of Solar Assault Some people are having problems getting the working in MAME 0.125 so I have made a short help section below.Delete the slrasslt.nv in the nvram directory (if exists) Boot the game as normal When the game come up the 24G BAD EEPROM: parameter is illegal hold down F2 and press F3 (reset game), the game will reset and load fine the second time. It game is playable with some sound but does play a little slow.

3D gradius
I REALLY HOPE konami port this game for Virtual Console Arcade or Xbox Live Arcade…
I’m really surprised they didn’t try to port this to the Saturn, PS1, N64, or Dreamcast.

Wow, the Vic Viper makes an appearance……one of the opposing ships in the intro looked like the friggin Slave 1.But yeah, this is a 3D Gradius alright…….intrigues me.
3d gradius? Blasphemy! Not as bad as I imagined though. Never heard of the “Alpina” before, so it must be exclusive to solar assault only.

Very poor emulation. They real game is much smoother and faster.
