Today I bring you the game that started it all Soul Edge/Blade. It was called Soul Edge in the arcade and japanese playstation and Soul Blade on Playstation in the usa. This game was the prequel to the Soul Calibur series and was a forgoten classic by many gamers. Here is my two part review and full playthrough of the game. I also show off some special stuff in part 2. Enjoy.
This video is Part 1 of 2.

dude i used to had them too, u have to get the “s11 player.dll” updated… actually i have all the weapon in psx version but the arcade version specially version 1 is the hardest!!
The narrator in the soul calibur games REALLY likes his job he’s really dramatic.
i completed this game when i was 10 lol i bet i probebly just spammed attacks im 20 now the memories
i feel you on that i miss this game
well I liked how you reviewed the game, but the part where you say that “characters speak the languages they should, rather than speaking japanese”, I mean while its a nice touch that not all characters speak japanese, they arent speaking the language they should be speaking(meaning that sophitia would have to speak greek, etc)
This is exactly why SCIV’s techicly SCV.
I totally agree with you there, its just like dynasty warriors 6 should be dynasty warriors 5. The original Dynasty Warriors game was just a fighting game that had nothing to do with the main series hence why in japan the word Shin was put before the new series.
Exactly or even like the GTA series, GTAIV should technicly be GTAVI cause of the 2 GTA Stories games. Although in some aspects NARC & River City Ransom were the first two GTA games.
You need to balance the volume between your voice and the gameplay. With my headphones, its sometimes impossible to hear what you say.
Wait, what the hell are you talking about?a) Arthur wasn’t in any version of Soul Blade. You’re thinking of Soul Calibur 1.b) How the hell can you confuse us with Korea? We have no problem with Samurai. Come on, why would Europeans historically have a problem with samurai? That makes no sense. Arthur was in the Korean version of Soul Calibur 1.
… which makes no sense because Soul Calibur was a complete overhaul of the series. It’s Soul Calibur IV.
The series started with Soul Blade (Edge) on the PS so technicly SC IV is SC V. Even if it’s an overhaul of the series.
Kinda like the real dynasty warriors 1 was really dynasty warriors 2. Hence the fact that in japan it had a shin in the title and no number. Dynasty Warriors was just a non series fighting game.
Exactly

The game is called Fighting Vipers. The original game was released on sega saturn and the sequel was released on dreamcast in europe and japan only.

A)Arthur was the localized version put into the euro version, ive seen him as an extra character in SC1 arcade, and ps2 SC3b)they were just generalized with ninja and violence, considering europe has its own violent history itself

In europe for some reason Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles became Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles.

The pnly emulator which runs the arcade version which is called Soul Edge is Zinc. It uses the same rom as mame so finding it shouldnt be hard.

Soul Edge(In Japanese) also has Siegfried and Sophitia speaking Japanese and all the Dead Or Alive Characters speaks Japanese.5 stars.

The best game ever!!!! And the Rest of All SoulCalibur Game is a Dream :).
The PAL version of this game had some edits. As you stated in this video, Mitsurugi was replaced with Arthur. Li Long’s nunchak was replaced with a three section staff, similar to that of Billy Kane from Fatal Fury. In the opening sequence, Sophitia was given clothes, where as in the Japanese and American versions, she would be shown from the neck up without her clothes.
Oh wow thats really cool, I love differences in different region versions. Now I have to buy the pal version.
bring this to psone classics on playstation network!
I guess that would be a great idea if you have no way of getting playstation games but if you can get the real game disc, any ps3 will play it just fine.
why i would like it to be released for the playstation network is so i can download it for my psp, take this game on the bus, in the car, anywhere, same thing with tekken 3.
and xbox live
@Dirky1979 no way, xbox already has soul calibur 1, we playstation fans deserve this as an exclusive!
The xbox live arcade of soul calibur 1 would have had a point if it had online play, otherwise its just another pointless port.I personally could care less about exclusives, I dont care what console a game is on as long as its a good game, these console wars are just pointless.
@gamemaster14neo do u own both a ps3 and xbox 360?
Yes I own both the 360 and ps3 plus a wii as well. I like to keep my options open.
@gamemaster14neo yeah that’s a great thing to do
my version is different than the one hes playing
Soul Blade Is The Best Game In The Soul Sireis Taki Was My Best Character She Was So Fast NowBut In Soul Calibur 4 The Fucked Up Namco Changed Her So Much They Made Her Slow And Her Voice Sucks And Not To Mention The Themes Soul Blade’s Themes Were Alot Better!

Is Maxi the son of Li Long? o:
@HyuugaKiki100 I dont think its that direct of a relationship but I know they are related in some way or another.
You should turn the volume of the game down. There’s constantly 2 men talking through each other
i don’t understand anything… game volume too loud.
@N6600 I can hear both the voice and the game volume fine on my speakers and all headsets. It could be either a problem with your speakers or mixer settings in windows.
ahh the good old soul edge, I have the japanese version in wich all characters speak japanese but in the european version actually the characters from Asia speak japanese and the rest of the world speak only english, not their own language, still that would be a cool featurealso they should bring back all the features from souledge in the next soul calibur games
Having the White characters speak English and the Asian characters speaking Japanese isn’t proper language. The only one who should speak English is Rock; Sieg should speak German, Sophi should speak Greek, Hwang and Mina should speak Korean, Li-Long should speak Chinese, and Cervantes should speak Spanish. Li-Long and Maxi have no relation story wise. Arthur replaced Mitusurugi in Korean versions of Soul Calibur not the European version. Other than that, nice vid.
i remember this game and i beat everyone in the game 40 times when i was a kid and in taki’s stage if u look in the cave u will see a demon n i seen every ending and remember then in an sec
