May do the rest of the stages one day in an extremely edited video (from about 5 billion attempts).

Loved the video. Course E was always my favorite, also had the best theme tune! :)Can you let me know your settings for this under mame (assuming you use keboard or joypad)? I’ve tried this but the merest tap left or right sends my car hurtling across the road. I just want to be able to lightly tap left or right for the gentle corners :(

Good question! I don’t have Mame to hand at the moment, since it wasn’t long ago that I reinstalled Windows…but originally I took snapshots of the settings for the benefit of others. I know I also tried a few different settings, so these might not be the right ones. It’s for use with a joypad. Give it a try. I can’t find the other settings, sorry. Check the info up top, right.

I always loved to play this game for the AMIGA, it was the best racing game ever. I could never pass this course when I was about 7, but I can now! I’LL NEVER FORGET THE INTRO WHEN THE START AND LIGHTS ENTER FLYING!

Power Drift is awesome. A long time ago they had this game right in the front in the Penny arcade at Kennywood. People would crowd around this game and you had to wait for a turn. Sega used that same graphic style from After Burner for this game.

It is said this arcade game was the inspiration for Super Mario Kart. You can tell by a character called Emily in this game and the association to the lone female in SMK.

The makers of SMK even said so this game inspired them!

Try runnning it on MAMEUI v131 if that dont work download the rom off another site. And put scanlines on like the arcade screen had.

that’s because this game runs on the same hardware that After Burner and After Burner II ran on (Sega’s X Hardware)

It doesn’t run under MAME. IIRC I ran it under an emulator called “final burn”. You might try looking for that.

I hope Sega decides to release this as a Virtual Console Arcade title for the Wii in the future!
