i saw this a long time ago in the arcade, and i played this version, but they were 2 different versions. this version has 2 dragons as the last boss, but the one i saw in the arcade had a HUGE Red dragon for the final show down… the 2nd last boss was a smaller blue dragon, so whats going on? besides the dragon/tiger name change is there another version?
im not quite sure exactly what youre describing, but there is Black Tiger and Japan’s version is called Black Dragon
another fun fact about this game is that it was a sequel to an even more legendary title in video gaming history; Ghosts & Goblins of course. Capcom for life baby
yeah. but, the last boss in both games are 2 dragons right? but im sure that the version i saw had 1 massive dragon as the last boss and another blue dragon as the 2nd last boss. im sure i saw that.
in Black Tiger there is a single boss at the end

If what youre describing is true, I wouldnt be suprised. I played some games in the arcade whos official versions are slightly different, like final fight, on the version I played sodom set you on fire with his attacks

This game is cool, I play it whenever I can. Those dern fatsos in armour that breath fire, though, the ones that have a slight purple trim that randomly pop out of the things that contain power ups and have loads of hit points, I hate them!

your right, and the different version i saw was like an enhanced version of this game. like i say the last dragon boss wass massive. it could not fit on screen. i saw someone play it right to the end in the arcades in the early 90’s i dont have any more info, maybe sometime the roms for it will dumped . :/

yes im fairly certain there is at least one bootlegged arcade version out there, though ive never seen it/any myself
Yep i’m telling the truth it was in my mams video shop for 7 month it got hammered when it was closed lol It took the most money when the shop was open

It was a great game and challenging. There were not many out there. Just a few in 7-11s and one in a local arcade

What’s up Black Tiger fans?My record for “flipping the game over” (a term we kids used in the 80’s for completing the entire game) was 58 minutes, going through all 8 stages!
i used to play this game one one quarter first life and finish it, the guy at the vid arcade used to kick me out cause i played this game all day on one credit
i got out of the Army in early 88, and was offered a very small arcade in my very small town, from an Army Reserve major. my best selling game was “Black Tiger” that was one hell of a money maker, the only game that really kept me afloat. But, like sausageslaps, my brother became the same way on that game….I had to ban him from it during business hours, as i wouldn’t make any money. But, after hours with some beer and the REAl headbanger’s ball, was csome shining times.

One of the bestest games of all times.
It is a while back this game, but I completed on 10p… The only problem was the “impossible jump” which I could not do. A kid in the arcade was always around to do it for you though
yes 1 of the best i still know where all the extras are at. best boss was eggbert ( red fly demon) and that purple samurai beast. every board had a rendition of the same tune some were so fly i couldn’t wait to get to it and here it. i still finish this on one try.
This was the first arcade machine that I owned. I would play around with the difficulty and make it super easy or super tough just for fun. I love this game!

Oh hells yea! I remember this game. Going down to my local Fun Factory and being able to beat the game in 20 mins. finding all the secret stashes. Ah the memories….

I use to pla this at a laundry mat as a kid. It was right at the time when Double Dragon had just come out, and was adjacent to it. I have tried downloading this as a mame, but it always says that the rom is corrupt

This was one of the best arcade games ever. It made me so sad when I ran out of quarters when finally reaching the end … losing all your equipment virtually guarantees that you cannot beat the dragon, but I kept trying anyway.

Dear Capcom,We’re still waiting for you to make Black Tiger a playable fighter in a Marvel vs. Capcom game. This series has also neglected the hardsuit guys from Side Arms, and though the Unknown Soldier from Forgotten Worlds HAS made an appearance, he was basically reduced to some other fighter’s special attack.Remember your roots, Capcom. You’re big now, but it was games like Black Tiger that MADE you big. Give Black Tiger some new millenium love already.Love,Your adoring fans

Wow, serious cheat going on here, hehe. I used to play this in the arcade when I was a lad, was finally able to beat it without needing to continue. Fired it up in MAME, could barely get past the first level!
Best music and sound effects for its time…
I find it amusing (and kind of awesome) that the “also recommended” section on the right has Rygar and Rastan videos as well, because these three games were my favorite arcade games when growing up.
Oh the memories………..I’m glad I grew up in the Arcade era. The kids of today sure missed out.
