I see your point and getting nostalgic for an ideal past that never existed just because the movies presented those images; in fact, I always remind people of that. But I think when people say “I want to back to X decade” they don’t literally mean that because of historical realities. I think it has more to do with pop cultural things: music, movies, fashion, etc, wishing those things were popular now.

For myself there are some things I do like about the past (more in a pop cultural sense like I said) but I know that we need to be living in the 21st because it is better. I too get annoyed when fmy friends pine for the past.

i have a schools project in art, on choosing an acctress, in black and white movies. and i choose Rita Hayworth, i didnt find så much about her. we are suppose to draw them and write down the facial structure, så pleazzze, could someone tell me what her trademark was, what was her face features, was eyes shape. just the face.
Something interesting about her face - for the film industry to look more American she plucked her hairline back. Look into her earlier films and she has sort of a widows peak. This was one of her more famous dance segments because the way she removes her glove, and innuendos all throughout Gilda were just very risque for that time!

Harry Cohn originally wanted to make a dramtic film with Rita that contained no musical performances but when he and Charles Vidor the director of GIlda saw the final cut it was decided that “Gilda” needed to showcase her other “Talents”. Look it up! And maybe actually WATCH some earlier clips of her dancing with her parents, not what HOLLYWOOD wanted her to dance. Ever heard of a cheorographer?? They had them back then too, you know!
