Way to go, Trippelip. An almost perfect game.
I remember playing this in the arcade (when it was called Top Gunner) and being a little disappointed that you couldn’t rotate the machine gun but you adapted to this limitation and sent the computer packing.
If there isn’t a remake (or, better yet, a compilation featuring this classic) I’d be very surprised.

I got this for the NES when I was like 3 or 4 years old, and I remember playing this with my dad for hours on end. We’d play it, beat it, then play it again. One of the best games ever.

One strategy I always used when my jeep was full was to offload 3 or 4 POWs into the heli on the pad, then scoop up any POWs in buildings around the pad, and offload them and the rest of the POWs altogether.Good tun, though. One of my fav Konami games!

Next time the enemy army should have its soldiers pilot the artillery while it’s covered. They would all be invincible.

at least in the NES version for $50-$60 back in 1988 you got a real ending not just “GAME OVER” for 25 cents or more if you wanted to conquer the game.
@ChainsawGenie there is a bootleg of Jackal/Top Gunner which does use rotary sticks for gun aiming.

Lovely GAME PLAY, BUT WHY THE GAY ENDING? I wanted to hear all three sirens when the last gate was busted into, but the motherfucker got his jeep shot up by that helicopter right after the first.
