Do the mame emulators need a special rom set or can you put any game systems rom it supports in?

fishcomputer33 , roms for most of the emulators are the same as for pc. for mame, you need a version 34 set (mostly). you can use clearmame etc to make a set from a more recent set. i did that and also downloaded a few of the oldest sets i could find and managed to put together a few hundred working roms (”,)

can someone help? I just need one more game that i played years ago on snes. Its a side scroller but the players you control are like contra men but they are in mid air (sorta flying ) and they get the same gun upgrades as contra. its like section z but 10 times better. please help!

yeah, I bought that port for the Sega Master System too. That was one of the first master system game I bought. love it.

I hacked a PSP to play MAME but game compatibility is flaky. I’m gonna get me a WIZ before too long and annoy my wife with Pac Man and Robotron.

@cosmicgate07 The GP2X runs MAME and many other 8 and 16bit systems. The current version is called GP2X WIZ. You can alternatively get its successor (in spirit) the Pandora.
@nickbaldeagle01 wiz mame compatibility is also flaky…
@delli2011 I’ve got a Caanoo now and compatibilty is better. The GnGeo emulator is absolutely superb for the Neo Geo games so I’m a happy bunny at the moment.I’m proper annoying the wife with Pacman and Robotron. And Joust.
@nickbaldeagle01 nice… i’ve had found memores of pacman when i was younger, but i was born in 81 but i wanted to play a TMNT game on mame. no luck getting it working…
@delli2011 TMNT works on MAME for the Caanoo too. Get yourself a Caanoo. NOW.
@nickbaldeagle01 shucks, i just got a wiz not too recently. do you know the name of the tmnt rom? i have all of them so one of them is bound to work right?
@delli2011 It’s called, quite simply tmntIt’s on version 137b of MAME roms.

@amiga2000 Can this Handheld play high advance games?Games like : Mushihimesama , Street Fighter 3rd strike , Jojo Adventure , Time crisis , Turtles in times , Violent Strom , New Dopancphi games 2000 and higher , basically any Mame game that is higher than 1995 or 2000…
