they are both the queens of boardway and tv
I love ANGELA!!!!!!!!!!!! And i miss Bea RIP
What a GREAT Moment in Tony history!!!!
With Bea Arthur the theatrical world has lost one of its finest and most valuable stars … Dear Bea, you´ll be always on my mind and in my memory!
this video proves that it wasn’t too late to reshoot Mame.
I Love Lucy……….But These two Woman should have done the Mame Movie!
Simply the Best! God bless the memory of Bea Arthur and Congrats to wonderful Angela on winning her FIFTH TONY!!!! (2009).
My two favourite actresses! May you rest in peace, Bea. You were a unique talent and will be greatly missed. Your memory will live on in your show-stopping comedic roles. =)
A hearty congratulations to Angela for winning her fifth Tony Award! You are a Broadway and a television legend! I wish only the best for you in whatever you do in your twilight years. Make the best of them!
Now, how do you like that? Two stupendous Golden Girls!
Congratulations, Angela Lansbury!
RIP Bea Arthur
They are both extremely talented and adorable.
CONGRATS ANGELA & RIP BEA<3
Btw, this is like the 344564th time i’ve sat here and watched this. Lol.
Angela Lansbury really has a lot of style
She died from cancer not to long ago. Her body was cremated and the location of where her ashes were spread is unknown.
Words can’t explain my love for Angela Lansbury<3 Does anyone know when this happend?
Angela! How I love you!
what a great lost :(how old was she?
Beatrice “Bea” Arthur was 86.
Bea was a wonderful actress. RIP Bea.
F-A-N-T-A-S-T-I-C!!!!!!
RIP Bea Arthur. You were a wonderful actress
Bea is not wearing heels here
wonderful….
When was this????
the best part in this video when they dancing that is my favorite .
Angela’s dress is so classically gorgeous! She’s so stylish!
Tony Awards 1987Angela was host and told the viewers that when she found out Bea was going to be a presenter she insisted they be given a chance to recreate their showstopping duet.
what i wouldn’t give to have this! these women are/were amazing!
I can’t TELL you how many times I’ve been back to watch this, safely tucked away in my “I simply cannot get enough of these!”, Playlist! ..Simply as good as it gets~ MANY thanks!*****
I’ve watched this more than you Anni! :-)Just love this video.
Well, I’m watching it AGAiN, and gAiNin’ on ya, sO THERe! ..and sooo beWARE my friend! hehEE x)))Oops..now yoU’re watching it again!…{*quickly replaying it twiice morrre!*};D
this video is absolutely amazing! i cant stop watching this video and these two women were so professional and fantastic actresses!
This is absolutely incredible entertainment!
Dorothy and Jessica!… Golden Girls meets Murder, She Wrote. I love both of these actresses. Thanks for poating
One word: WONDERFUL!!!!!!! This video will surely bring a smile to anybody’s face!!!!!!
Do you know the year on this?
1987
This is an absolutely wonderful performance! I love this video.
AW MAN! I love this Performance.
I just got a pic of Bea’s birth Certificate off of a website. Message me if you wnat one?
Well that should come as no surprise! LOL!
move that body! :D:D:D
So well done! was This at the Tonys or something?
Bea Arthur was 5′9″ I believe, a pretty tall woman.
I love Lucy, but Angela owned as Mame and had much better chemistry with Bea. Plus, one of the best things about this duet is the contrast between Mame and Vera’s voices. Lucy’s voice was too similar to Bea’s, being deep, only Bea’s voice was naturally deep (and therefore sounded better) and Lucy’s voice was deep from smoking.
This is how you bring the house down!
Angela’s dress = win
This is really a trio. Angela, Bea, and Bob Mackey (designer of atleast Angela’s fabulous dress, but I’m sure Bea’s as well). *drools over all the talent*
I still can’t believe Bea Arthur is gone… it’s nice to watch this.
Anybody know what year this was?
It’s from the 1987 Tony Awards telecast. Angela looks fantastic in that gown!
How perfect was that “if I kept my hair natural like yours, I’d be bald” line? This performance was so natural and fluid. Can’t get much more perfect than this.
Just perfect!! Those were the days when Hollywood stars still had some class and glitter, nowadays it’s all gone for some reason:(
i love this show! i wish Angela would have done the movie.
Wasn’t it though! I guess years of Golden Girls will help you with your stinging quibs.
Amen!
I simply can’t stop watching this clip! The most genuine and clearly respectful peformance of friends and true masters of theater. And Angela’s gown….!!!!!!
bea’s is better for the venue
Indeed, Lansbury looks just like the star she is.
Ditto! It’s too bad our modern culture doesn’t nurture stars like these anymore. In the Golden Era, an entertainer had to know how to sing, dance, and act–all at the same time and with impeccable style and good taste!
So classy!
Some ladies will always be classic dames. Period.
Stunning Inspirational, it makes me want to be an actorThis duet can not ne recreated, anymore
Gotta love Angie & Bea! Their love and respect for each other makes their performances together so utterly touching. They do it because they love it, not for fame and riches. Great ladies!
I wish I could have seen them live. Two of my favorite actresses. I doubt we’ll ever see the likes of this pair again.
You may wait around a long time, but i’ll tell you this , you’ll never see the likes of these again!… watch and learn!
if you watch bea’s intimate portrait on lifetime, she mentions that she was jealous that she always was in black and angela always got to be in white. it’s cute that they switched here. XD
I have done this in a drag act, and it is always a crowd pleaser. LOVE IT. Its just catty enough but also very classy at the same time. I have always loved Bea Arthur she is greatt, (although I have always thought she was a man in drag, LOL)
bea owns!
The Intimate Portrait is actually on a DVD with the IP’s of the other Golden Girls. very cool.
I have it ツ
LOVE Angela’s dress!!! They are phenomenal!
May Bea RIP, she brought a lot of laughs to me and her fans.
Just incredible. Two absolute legends!
Two of the greatest comedic actresses of this or any generation! Castmates from the original Broadway production of Mame.
This looks like early ’90s?
bea is so greatt! , love it!
looks like acid more like
R.I.P. Bea…
That was SOOO amazeballs!!!! love it love it love it love it love it , thanks for posting!!!
@fivebearrugs It was from the 1987 Tony Awards. If you are a fan of The Golden Girls, you can always tell the approximate year from Bea Arthur’s hairstyle.
Diss-Fest 87. With two of the classiest ladies who ever walked planet Earth. God I miss Bea Arthur!
which one is supose to be vera?
pbs’s broadway’s lost treasures 2, with many other fabulous tony moments.
she’s 5′7, not much shorter than bea who was 5′9
rest in peace beau were a legend that will never be matched
Bea is Vera and Angela is Mame.
Bea’s wearing the white dress this time!
I love anything with Bea Arthur in it! She was a great dame! RIP, Beatrice, and thanks for all the laughs.
I felt their songs very happy. I saw Lucy singing this song in the movie.
Freaking FABULOUS!!!!!The word FABULOUS was invented to describe these two.
Omg! You’re right!! I always felt so sad when I heard her talk about that!!
Omg….I could watch this over and over!! I LOVE BEA!! I miss her!! And the fact that they were really best friends, makes this song soo natural!! LOVE IT!!
Bea Arthur and Angela Lansbury first met when they did ‘Mame’ together, which was launched on Broadway on May 24, 1966 - Angela Lansbury as auntie Mame and Bea Arthur as Vera Charles. In this clip 20 years later they bring Vera and Mame back to life…
angela l has a great dressan amazing duo they fit well
what´s the matter with the white dress?
Angela’s character of Mame was always in a white dress (and a very lovely white dress at the end of the show) whereas Bea’s Vera always wore a black one.
Goddesses…
Just brilliant…love these ladies
lol, I googled gayest song ever and this one somehow got #1, not sure how though, I can think of much gayer songs.
I saw the original on Broadway with both of them at least 7 times. It was fabulous. This brings back such wonderful memories!
R.I.P-Bea Arthur We shall miss you.
thats kool haha the lady from murder she wrote and the lady from golden girls
I LOVE THESE TWO!
I love Lucille Ball but I think Angela would have been better in the movie Mame
Outstanding Women–loved Angela’s dress……talented and funny….
It’s such a shame that Lansbury wasn’t in the movie. I think that most Broadway lovers agree with this. Don’t get me wrong. I love Lucy, but she was not a singer. Listen to “wildcat” and you’ll see what I mean lol! Ty for the post
…And then there’s MAUDE!
It’s just that Angela wan’t popular enough in the eyes of the studio. I think Lucy was adorable, but Angela would have been killer.
This song reminds me of my sister and me. The playful insulting banter
Wow, she never changed her hairdo after the Golden Girls.
miss you bea
Angela Lansbury is the First Lady of American theatre! Can’t wait to see her in A Little Night Music!
I love this song
Two women who should have been in the same Mame; either film or musical
@Sulla2300 She did, in fact it changed during the Golden Girls, it was longer by the end and after it as well.
fabulous!
@rosyree Lansbury is always elegant and poised.
Gotta Love It!
Reminds me of my Wausau friend Vicki. Those were the days!
Two of my all-time favourite actresses.
@marcosvalenca that is kinda one of the reasons I don’t like her too much as Mame. Mame seems like to much of a mess to be played by Angela
@Sail0rIo Kyle, have you seen Lansbury play Mrs. Lovett in “Sweeney Todd”? She created a criature completely different from herself. Angela is a seasoned actress, she can really become very different characters. Bea Arthur, who I also love, always said it was a mistake to give the part to Lucelle Ball. Plus, Angela’s voice and singing ability more than surpass Lucy’s.As most people, I love Lucy, the greatest TV comedienne, but Mame should have been done by Angela.
two of the very best
lol i love how bea breaks persona at the end and hugs angela
Legends!!! So much love for both of them! <3
Can’t believe I was lucky enough to see them do this when I was little! What a great number from a great show!
Angela would have been great in the film. People around Lucille Ball should have discouraged her from attempting the role.
Can anyone tell me if this is the only piece of footage that exists of Angela & Bea performing from Mame? I’m looking for anything on Mame with Angela & Bea! Thanks.
where is that from?? I think it is great but I link the version of Lucy and bea better
OMG….. this is so classic…. now THIS is what I call making history
Angela and Bea should have done the movie together. What a shame it didn’t happen. Thanks for this tid bit.
The very best in broadway entertainment and entertainers! They don’t make them like that anymore. Two great ladies both on and off the stage!
@FinnGuy76 I have too agree
fucking legends.
The Stage and Broadway doesn’t make em like these gals anymore. Now we get guest stars from Hollywood and pop stars to bellow out.
Fantastic, these ladies shone like the lights in broadway - pure class.
R.I.P BEA ARTHUR
okay who the hell thumb down this vid and why?!! Wish they sung more together This is so CUTE!!!
two legends in one song, just perfect
Now THAT’S entertainment!
Jerome Lawrence once tried to seduce us.We refused.
I’ve seen this a gazillion times. Just love it! Good old Broadway hoofers.
I wished Bea lived to be a 100 like that one actor…
After a really hard day these gals make everything great again. What entertainers!
This is what hollywood is really all about, these are two Hollywood icons at there best and I love them……………
They are just too cute. Love Angela’s gown.
Bea Is truly missed
Does anyone else really like Angela’s dress?
@FinnGuy76 on the MONEY!!!! u are so right. that golden age of hollywood when the actresses and actors, still had talent. they did it all. they were timeless. now it’s about their exploits on the tabloid front page. sad, really sad. and to think hollywood caters to young people (who have no disposable income, just what we give them). oh well. but we still have some greats today, Mirren, Winslet, Maggie Smith, Dench, Benning, etc.
These two are so amazing. Angela looks simply classy, her dress is so gorgeous and Bea’s timing is always spot-on. They couldn’t have picked two better ladies to perform this. Miss you Bea!
that was so good gurls
miss you Bea Arthur Thankyou for the joy !
love it missing Bea after watching this and Angela is simply wonderful and her voice is tremendous
I just wanna say that Bea Arthur was the ultimate person who could really make people laugh. There’s nobody else like her, absolutely NOBODY else like her…and there never will be. We miss you, Bea.
bea auther was one of the very best entertainers of all time. i luv ms lansbury
That is so much fun!!!
They are both amazing!!!
who’s the host at the very beginning of the clip? he’s hot.
@quafer Brian Stokes Mitchell–He played Coalhouse Walker, Jr. in Ragtime on Broadway–original Broadway cast, I believe.
This is fantabulous. <3
Just give two veterans of the stage some great material and watch the masters at work. Every nuance, intonation, every gesture has a purpose but the joy is never sacrificed. Not for one instant.
I wonder which one of them has the bigger penis?
love this song!!!!! bea is the best!
One time only….two of the greatest artists in the musical theatre. Or anywhere…
Loves it!
Angela Lansbury should have had the Mame movie role. She’s perfect and would have made a fantastic Mame.
angela is having so so much fun especially towards the end
Angela Lansbury was the best guest star on the Golden Girls who never appeared. Man, she would have worked fantastically on that show for an episode or two.
Two of my favorite actresses…thanks:D
Simply wonderful!
Deadpool just had a heart attck. “My beloved Bea!”
I love them
Wonderful!!!!!
@102936 did Bea ever guest-starred on MURDER, SHE WROTE? It’s great that both Bea and Angela had a hit show around this time (late ’80s/early ’90s).
@DownHomeWithMyrtle That’s for sure!
omigosh, why can’t angela lansbury and bea arthur be my grandmothers??
This is total entertainment from beginning to end - simply superb.
DO IT GIRLS!!!
Mrs.Potts
What/when is this from?
all this talk about Angela not getting the film version of Mame, yes it was a pity but also pure economics…Angela Lansbury in 1974 was a big broadway star but not a big star to the general audience in the usa and abroad, Lucy was worldwide star, and Bea Arthur was huge in the usa because of “Maude”…NYC is NOT the world : tourists now flock to see Angela in a play or musical, but they wouldn’t have before “murder she wrote” , sad but true folks…
What a great video…They really seem happy. Thanks for posting!
@Dirkdebruyne Angela had been in The Manchurian Candidate, and was arguably very well known for it, but you’re right, Lucy was the bigger star.
i love mame with lucy!!!!!!!!
nelly and rob greig lol x
how can 25 people not like this?
I LOVE Lucille Ball as Mame!
Great video. May Bea rest in peace.
damn good…great singeri miss bea,…rip!!!
i love my bea arthur, but the best mame film is auntie mame with rosalind russell and coral browne as vera hands down
Having seen the original production of Mame with Angela Lansbury and Bea Arthur six times … I can say, without a doubt that Angela Lansbury should have gotten the movie. I love Lucy as everyone does, but it wasn’t a good role for her.
@DownHomeWithMyrtle Agreed. Lucy was famous in her own right, but she couldn’t carry a tune in bag with handles….
I’m obsessed with Angie’s dress.
THATS ENTERTAINMENT!!!!!
Such a great clip, thanks for sharing!MichaelOutMaturity
@nickbigd you’re the only one that did!!
@mbutehorn Yes, I agree completely with what you said. The two women made a terrific combination in that movie
These 2 are just beyond fantastic i repeat fantastic in these roles. Wow no wonder they won Tony awards
@SingleLaadies I miss Bea too
I love Angela’s dress!
Awww I love when the crowd busts out clapping at 2:10 when they dance
Who are the philistines that dislike this video?
two wonderful great ladies of entertainement Wish I could have seen them on stageJMB
@themotorcyclinglady Unfortunately it was Lucille Ball that Bea Arthur made the movie of “Mame” with. It should’ve been Angela as Mame.
I’ve always loved Bea. I loved Maude. I watched the Lifetime(?) 5 part special on her life and now I love her more. RIP Bea. Your gift lives on.
Bea is probably the only perfect Vera Charles.
Broadway royalty if ever there was.
Does anyone know if I can get this as a ringtone somewhere??
@gdwme Can you tell me the website where i could watch maude again please…. i tries searching the episodes on youtube but the wrong ones are turning up ^^
Wow, 25 people have no soul or appreciation of talent. They must be hard to live with. This is just sheer class and I wouldn’t want to know anyone who couldn’t see that.
@13Mdraco I only see episodes of Maude on AntennaTV
Now I ask you, HOW could ANYbody not ‘Like’ this?! ..I don’t get it…… wait, on second thought, I wouldn’t want to know~
we miss you you Bea. You where the gratest. What a voice she had. She was the best
Bea always make my day.She just lighten up my life when i am depresss::)) you will be miss 4 sure..
Bea is so so so much louder than Angela lol
love, love, love it.
Thank you for this !
I just love these two legends. They are so endearing. =>
For U my BFF ! I love U madly ♥
B-O-S-O-M
What makes that performance particularly special is that those legendary ladies were actually very close friends in real life until the very end. We love you, we miss you, and we will never forget you Ms. Arthur! Ms. Lansbury we love you, and please, please, stay with us as long as possible!
How sublime. And how wonderful it is to see them revisiting past glories after they’d become known on TV for vastly different characters. Class. It’s missing these days.
true friendship, 2 amazing icons from my youth, sisters for life, amazing!
Love Bea Arthur & Angela Lansbury!
I’d forgotten how good these two were together. Wow!
RIP Bea Arthur.
“If I kept my hair natural like your’s, I’d be bald.” LMAO!!!!!! Only Bea could deliver a line like that!!
OMGosh, Angela and Bea. Angela is something else, and Bea, well she’s something else. What a duo this was! Oh great entertainment from two great ladies.
I want Angela Landsbury’s dress!!
@JTropp92 — We are Kindred Spirits, then…Love them as well.
hahahahahahaha!!!! Anyone else feel sassy after watching this? Brilliant, brilliant number! I wish I could have been in the audience!
@TheSecretsauces Agreed..I’m 18 and I love them both!(:
@MsSoftKitty - Me too! lol
great great great! both of them - great Talents!
@gomarie02032ily You are as hilarious as Bea! LOL
Both are great! RIP Bea!
Angela Lansbury is definately better then Lucille Ball!
Let’s hear it for Hollywood producers! They refused to use Julie Andrews in My Fair Lady . . . then refused Angela the part she made famous! How brilliant can you get!
Please tell me that these 26 red votes were wrong clicks - or I’d have to worry for 26 pitiful atavistic grumpy fools !This number is a pure delight, I just don’t know how many times I watched it !!
I have killed the replay button, because I have watched it about thousand times ! RIP Bea.
@rockyj74426 There’s no accounting for taste or sense in Hollywood. Seriously, they don’t have any of either. If they had Angela would have won an Oscar and a Grammy by now.
Im 13 and thats my favorite song ! woah.
Mame was the first Broadway show I ever saw; Angela had moved on by 1969 and was replaced by the late Ann Miller, who was reknowned for her dancing(she floated across the stage). Bosom Buddies was still the showstopper, and Bea Arthur as Vera Charles made a lasting impression on a small-town schoolgirl who wanted to act. Timing and talent were everything. I’m sorry I missed Angela. RIP, Ann and Bea.
thanx for posting, it is so wonderful to see these Legends, Bea & Angela together, thanx again and much luv. . .
The guy on the left has a terrible voice.
I <3 this like you wouldn’t believe! Growing up watching Angela Lansbury and becoming a fan of Golden Girls later on, I just <3 this.
@gomarie02032ily Because then you would be the most awesome creature in existence and it just wouldn’t be fair to everybody else.
@TraineeHero hahahah yess :))
I used to want Angela to be my Nana was little and she was on Murder She Wrote! I was 4 when that show started and I loved it!! I loved Bea on GG and found Maude in my 20s…a few years ago. I met Bea in 2000 and she was awesome and gracious! Legends, both of them!
Has anyone pointed out that it’s spelled “Bosom”, not Bosum?
Love this clip. Older women who are funny, talented, and glamorous. Sequins and bitchiness. Who could ask for more?
@nancyjgill Yes. You have….I’m pointing it out.
@777Joeeey I meant to click vote up but I accidentally clicked vote down. Forgive me, I didn’t mean it. :(Needless to say, I concur.
LOL…absolutely love it. Me and my Mom used to sing this together.
To those 27 who clicked “Dislike:” No class.
and that kids is how it’s done
@TheLanard love this line! don’t forget to use this line if someone makes a comment like that you muhahaha.
@capcom23 LOL.
I love it!!!:D
Murder, She Wrote!!!
What a class act. Their timing is effortless and impeccable.
Simply wonderful…
BEST. PERFEORMANCE. EVER.That is true class <3
Classy! Classy!
Listen to Bea belt it on “Just turn to your bosom buddy…” — beautiful!
How many people are with me on this? I love Angela’s dress!
Showstopper!
28 people don’t have a bosom buddy.
Their timing is impeccable!!! What a classic tandem.
Two of my favorite people to have ever walked this earth!
Angela Lansbury is always in perfect shape… no matter how old she is… She’s in better shape than me and I’m 13!
